OliveCrest Montessori school plus is a multicultural co-educational nursery school catering for children from the age six months to six years.

Their educational progress and their welfare is the overriding consideration in all decisions of the school.Each classroom has been designed with the philosophy of Montessori in mind.The playground consists of various gardens, slides, outdoor grassy area, other outdoor play equipment and other creative play areas.

BLUE ROOM (BREAD OF LIFE):

Not so steady on their feet! The children in this room range from 6 months to 18 months old. The teacher to child ratio is 1 to 6 or 2 to 12. As in the infant room, the children are assigned their own crib, bins, and cubby for their personal belongs. In this room, children begin to form routines in their daily schedules such as story, art, and gym time. Some developmental milestones for this room include:

  • Social interaction with adults through hugs, coos, babble, and smiles
  • Becoming aware of one’s self by sucking on fingers, observing their own hands, and reaching for toys
  • Motor skills, such as, lifting their head, sitting up without support, rolling over, crawling, pulling self up, and standing while holding on to furniture.
  • Body awareness, such as throwing objects, crawling, and walking
  • Looks at picture books with interest
  • Points to objects
  • Curious to learn the names of objects
  • Creates long, babbled sentences
  • Shakes head “No” and says a few words clearly
  • Identifies one or more body parts
  • Feeds oneself

There will be 10 children with a directress, a head teacher and one assistant.

 

YELLOW ROOM (YAHWEH)

Ready, Set, GROW!!! The age range in this room is 18-36 months. The children in this room follow a daily activities schedule which includes free play, circle time, art, music, nap, gross motor, fine motor, sign language and much more!

Some developmental milestones for this room include:

  • Demonstrates independence and individuality by saying “No” or “Me do it”
  • Body awareness, such as kicking a ball, or throwing a bean bag or scribbling
  • Begins to combine words to express wants and needs
  • Begins to show empathy for others
  • Verbal self expression of wants, needs, likes and dislikes
  • Body awareness and muscle control for potty training
  • Greater attention span during story time and other subjects of interest
  • Social and Emotional growth by cooperative play and helping others

More of a curriculum is introduced based on the center’s theme’s calendar and developmentally appropriate subjects such as colors, shapes, and manners.

There will be 12 children with a directress, a head teacher and one assistant. We have a comprehensive potty training programme and work closely with parents to ensure its effectiveness.

 

GREEN ROOM (GOOD SHERPHERD)

Let’s Explore!! The children in this room are between the ages of 3 and 4. These students become more involved learners in their environment. The students participate in circle time activities, story, art, music, gym, and fine motor development.

More of a curriculum is introduced based on the center’s theme’s calendar and developmentally appropriate subjects such as letter recognition, phonic sounds, table manners and teamwork. This group focuses on team work, individual accomplishments, and academic goals.

Some developmental milestones for this room include:

  • Improved language skills such as the use of simple sentences, an increase vocabulary ranging from 2,000-4,000 words, and sequencing stories
  • Social and emotional growth by means of sharing, taking turns & cooperative play
  • Fine and Gross Motor development such as, building block towers, drawing shapes, undressing without assistance, various animal walks, and improved coordination and balance.

There will be a directress, a head teacher and two assistants

 

PINK ROOM (PILLAR)

Ready to Learn!! The children in this room are between the ages of 4 and 6. More of a curriculum is introduced based on the developmentally appropriate subjects that prepare these students for kindergarten in terms of letter recognition and writing, phonic sounds, problem solving techniques, and much more!

Some developmental milestones for this room include:

  • Improved communication skills such as facial gestures, body mimicking, verbal expression, increased vocabulary up to 8,000 words; story sequencing, and sharing
  • Gross Motor development by means of improved coordination, balance, stamina and perceptual judgment
  • Fine motor development such as drawing family pictures, printing letters and words, and dressing with minimal assistance of snaps, buttons, laces, and zippers
  • Social & Emotional growth in terms of self regulation of emotions & behaviors,
  • improved sharing techniques with fellow students, cooperative play and problem solving with other students

Approximately 4-6 years.
